CA Cold Storage

CA (CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE) COLD STORAGE

banner

In order to keep certain products like Apples as fresh as long as possible without losing its nutritional properties and appearance, it is essential to create special conditions for reducing the fruit respiration intensity. For this purpose, Special Controlled Atmosphere Cold Storage facilities are created. Due to reduced concentration of oxygen, natural decomposition of fruit tissues slows down, which allows for preservation of the fruit flavors & characteristics.

Recommended conditions for Apples CA Storage are:
  • 1. Co2 (Carbon Dioxide) level in the room up to 0.3%.

  • 2. O2 (Oxygen) level in the room up to 21%.

  • 3. N (Nitrogen) level in the room up to 78%.

Precautions for apple CA Storage:
  • 1. Storing only good quality Apples

  • 2. Loading & cooling the storage room quickly.

  • 3. Periodical maintenance of Refrigeration Units & CA accessories.

CA temperature ranges of -1 Deg c to 0 Deg c and a relative humidity of 90 to 95% are ideal for the storage of Apples. The fruit's storage life will be extended by using this CA environment which reduced the rate of respiration in Fruits.
